ABOVE: Cultivated Artocarpus integer (Cempedak) illustrated by Hoola Van Nooten in Java. The wild relative of Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) Cempedak grows wild in forests from Thailand to New Guinea and has been domesticated numerous times in S E Asia and Borneo. The fruits are commonly sold in local markets and are eaten both cooked and raw. The seeds are also eaten after roasting.
