Three out of the 4 species of Endocomia nutmegs in Malesia can be found in Borneo. The seeds of Endocomia nutmegs can be distinguished from (over 100) other nutmegs by the longitudinal brown/purple markings on the smooth surface of the seed.
Endocomia virella is the only Endocomia nutmeg which ripens with a green pericarp.
